Is it time to replace the battery in your heavy-duty pickup truck? You'll find the best replacement batteries for your GMC Sierra 2500HD at Batteries Plus. We carry quality, durable, road-ready batteries from Optima, Duracell and X2Power for your GMC Sierra 2500HD. You'll also take advantage of expert battery installation at most locations. Or, upgrade to premium installation to help prevent future corrosion on your new battery.

So how long should a Sierra 2500HD battery last? Our experts find that truck batteries typically last about 3-5 years. After that, we notice a decline in performance. If your battery is having a hard time holding a charge or you have to try several times to start your engine in the morning, it's a good idea to have your battery checked. Batteries Plus offers free battery testing at each of our 700+ locations.

Our selection of GMC Sierra 2500HD batteries includes both flooded and AGM batteries. AGM batteries cost more upfront, but offer a much better performance. They last longer, recharge faster and stand up better to the impact of extreme weather, be it extreme heat or extreme cold. Flooded batteries, while also a solid choice, require a bit of maintenance.

Now that you've replaced your battery, what do you do with the old one? We have the solution. Batteries Plus will recycle your old GMC Sierra 2500HD battery when the new one is in place. Recycling is something we stand behind, be it for car & truck batteries, alkaline batteries, light bulbs and more. Our Recycling Services page tells the full story.

In addition to the best car & truck batteries around, Batteries Plus also offers additional auto essentials for your GMC Sierra 1500 truck. Visit our Automotive Center to find windshield wiper blades, battery chargers and more. If you need a new key fob for your Sierra 2500, we can help you with that too. Take advantage of our key cutting and key fob replacement service, available at most Batteries Plus locations.

GMC Sierra 2500 HD FAQs

The average lifespan for a GMC Sierra 2500HD is around 3 to 5 years. In order to get the full life out of your battery, be sure to drive your GMC Sierra at highway speeds for at least 30 minutes per week. If you drive less than that, pick up a battery maintainer to help keep your battery charged up.

The Battery Council International (BCI) has broken truck batteries down into a number of different group battery sizes. The correct BCI group size for your particular truck will be listed in your owner's manual. If you no longer have an owner's manual, there are a number of tools online that can help you determine what size battery you need.

The cost of a replacement GMC truck battery will depend on the type of battery you want. Flooded batteries are more affordable upfront, while an AGM battery will cost you a little bit more. AGM batteries have much longer lifespans than flood batteries though, so, in the long run, you can end up saving money by investing in an AGM battery.
