What Battery Size Fits My Car?

Auto batteries come in different sizes. You can find the right size battery for your Terrain listed in your owner's manual, or by looking that information up online.

Before shopping for a new battery, you'll also want to know the CCA rating for your model Terrain vehicle. CCAs   (short for Cold Cranking Amps) help tell you how well a battery will perform in subzero temperatures. Your owner's manual will provide you with a minimum CCA rating. One rule to follow: it's okay to buy a battery with a higher CCA rating than your vehicle requires, but do not buy a battery with a lower CCA rating.

What is a Flooded Car Battery?

There are two different types of batteries for a Terrain SUV: flooded and AGM. Flooded batteries are the most basic auto batteries. They cost the least upfront. Since they're not fully sealed, some flooded batteries require you to top off the liquid electrolyte inside them with distilled water.

What is an AGM Type Car Battery?

An AGM battery is completely sealed. This makes it spill-proof and maintenance free. You'll end up paying a little bit more for an AGM battery than you would a flooded battery. Since AGM batteries last roughly 2-3X longer, many people save money in the long run with an AGM option. AGM batteries are also designed to recharge faster and work better in extreme hot and cold weather.

If your vehicle came from the factory with an AGM battery installed, you must replace it with another AGM battery. Downgrading to a flooded battery, in this case, will have a negative impact on your vehicle's performance.

What is X2Power?

X2Power is a brand of high-performance batteries designed exclusively for Batteries Plus. X2Power batteries are designed to last up to 3X longer than a flooded battery and provide top performance in any climate. GMC Terrain FAQs

The cost of a new Terrain battery will depend on the type of battery you choose. Flooded batteries are more affordable upfront, but don't last as long. AGM batteries are more expensive, but have much longer lifespans, which often leads to a more affordable battery in the long run.

On average, a Terrain battery will last between 3 and 5 years. Many factors play a role in an auto battery's lifespan, including: the type of battery, your driving habits, as well as the climate the battery is used in. Read our blog entitled "How Far Do I Need to Drive to Charge My Car Battery?  " for tips on getting the longest life out of your battery.
