How Can You Be Sure to Purchase the Correct Size Battery?

  • Start by checking your owner's manual for the correct BCI group battery size  .
  • Next, check your manual again for the recommended CCA (Cold Cranking Amps)   rating for your vehicle.
  • It's okay to buy a battery with a higher than recommended CCA rating, but do not buy a battery with a lower number of CCAs than the manufacturer recommends.
  • Some cars require an AGM battery - check your owner's manual or the label on your current battery to determine what type of battery you need.
  • If your vehicle originally came with an AGM battery installed, you must replace it with another AGM option. If it did not, you're free to choose between a flooded and AGM replacement battery.

What are the 2 Types of Car Batteries?

  • There are 2 types of car batteries: flooded & AGM.
  • A flooded battery is an unsealed, basic auto battery. It is the most affordable type, but may require you to periodically add distilled water to maintain the electrolyte inside it.
  • An AGM battery costs more upfront, but is completely sealed and requires no additional maintenance.
  • AGM batteries are more powerful than flooded batteries, which makes it easier to start your engine in extreme conditions.
  • Since an AGM battery is designed to last 2-3X longer than a flooded option, buying an AGM battery is often the better value in the long run.

Dodge Dart FAQs

The cost of a replacement battery depends on the type of battery you choose. Flooded batteries are cheaper upfront, but AGM batteries last longer, which are often a better deal in the long run.

You can expect the battery in your Dart to last roughly 3-5 years. To get the longest life possible, be sure to drive your vehicle regularly. If you don't plan on driving your Dart for more than a month, be sure to maintain your battery's charge using a battery charger.

You can find the correct group size battery for your car by:

  • Looking it up in your owner's manual
  • Checking the label of your current battery
  • Using an online resource to find the correct battery size
